Necropolis: (noun) 1) A cemetery, esp. one of large size and usually of an ancient city. 2) A historic or prehistoric burial ground.
Year after year, a single city continuously topped all the others when it came the number of missing peoples, hate crimes, murders, amount of gang activity, illegal activity, human (or otherwise) trafficking, and the poverty rate. Conditions in this city grew progressively worse, until it eventually just became known as "Necropolis".
Ever since the city was founded fifty years ago, things had been bad. As more people who moved in, more crimes were committed, and things just continued to get worse. Humans were oppressive and intolerant to the other species: all high classes business men or women were humans, and everyone who owned property in Uptown was human. Other species - such as demons, shape shifters, vampires, and anthros - were discriminated against and were forced to live on the fringes. For years they tolerated this, bending their heads, turning the other cheek, continuously telling themselves that one day their time would come.
And now, they believe that time is now. Behind the scenes, in Necropolis's darkest alleys, gangs have come up. They are simply the Vampires, Demons, Shape Shifters, and Anthros - anything more could make them to easy to find. Each gang fights against the human oppression, striving for the dominance of their own race. They're willing to go to any lengths to get what they want.
What started as a peaceful attempt has turned into a violent and bloody race war. Everyone who goes out into public has reason to be worried. Everyone has to keep their friends close and their enemies closer. Everyone has to watch their back. Welcome to a place where you can't sleep soundly at night. Welcome to a place where you're never safe. Welcome to Necropolis.
